Composer, Organist and teacher Montague Phillips was one of the many accomplished and talented British composers who published serious work, but who were far better known for their light music. Phillips was married to a star of the early 20th century stage and together they had a great success with his operetta The Rebel Maid in 1921. Some of his light works are still performed.
