A passionate fanfare. Andy Scott -To The Ancient Crosses by AstuteMusic. To the Ancient Crosses was commissioned by Foden’s as part of their ongoing relationship with Andy as Composer in Residence, and premiered by the band at St Mary’s Church in Sandbach in July 2011. The title refers to two 9th century stone Anglo-Saxon crosses in the centre of Sandbach, and the work is dedicated to Sandbach Town Council for their continued support of the band. To the Ancient Crosses features rhythmic, fanfare-like motifs contrasting with lyrical melodic lines, with an uplifting finale. Ideal as a concert first half or second half opening piece of mu-sic. Recorded by Foden's Band on the CD Patrons’ Choice V, which is available from World of Brass or direct from Foden’s Band. Percussion.
